KEI - Keyword Effectiveness Index

A formula for calculating the demand for a specific keyword based on daily world searches compared to the number of Internet pages for the term, aka “Competition.” Used to find best key terms. KEI is also referred to as “Keyword Effectiveness Index.” It is an widely used indication of the importance for a specific keyword. The formula for KEI is KEI = (DS ^ 2/C) = (DS/C * DS). DS equals the number of daily world searches for the key search word/term, while C represents the amount of competition. The Keyword Effectiveness Index starts at 0 and can go over 400. The values for KEI represented from best to least effective are: 100-400+ = Excellent Keyword, 10-100 = Good Keyword, 0-10 = Poor keyword. Keywords with the highest KEI combine popularity and less competition are the most important terms for ranking well.

Key Performance Indicator - KPI

A KPI is a measurement of the improvement an important online business activity necessary for the success of that business. Website webmasters and owners use this to calculate upward or downwed business trends relating to the site.

Key Phrase

A group of keywords appearing in the content of a site page. Search engine will show a page in it list of results, when targeted search terms appear as key phrases in the web site copy. Also - the search key phrase must appear on the web page enough times to be signicant to the search engine indexing formula (algorithm).

Keyword Weight

The number of times a keyword is found on a page as a percentage of all the other words in the page. In general, a higher weight for a particular keyword in a page, the higher the search engine ranking for the specific web page - for that keyword. Repeating a keyword too often in order to increase its weight can cause the page to be penalized by the search engines.
